President Donald Trump has unveiled a new iteration of his social media platform, TRUTH Social 2.0, featuring built-in encrypted messaging and voice calling capabilities, in a direct challenge to major telecom and tech players like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal.
The announcement was made during a press event at Trump Tower, where Trump claimed the platform would “revolutionize how Americans communicate, without interference from Big Tech or foreign surveillance.”
“This is about freedom. This is about having your own voice, your own calls, your own platform — not one controlled by Silicon Valley or Beijing,” Trump said.
The new service, backed by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), offers end-to-end encryption for private messages, VoIP calls, and even an eSIM integration feature aimed at giving users low-cost global data plans “without relying on Big Telecom.”
Cybersecurity experts remain skeptical about the app’s infrastructure and transparency, while Trump loyalists praise the move as a step toward digital independence.
The platform is expected to launch nationwide by July, ahead of what many speculate could be Trump’s intensified digital campaign push ahead of the 2026 midterms.
